Hi! I'm Kate.
I have been providing high-quality, fun, interactive and engaging maths tuition from my home in Chichester for over thirty years.
My expertise in private one-on-one maths tutoring means my students achieve results way beyond what they or their schoolteachers may have expected.
I have a degree in Mathematical Sciences, a PGCert in Education, and I hold Qualified Teacher Status. I have taught adults and students aged 5-18 in secondary, primary and independent schools, including GCSE, A-Level and specialist maths exams, and I am up-to-date with the current variety of syllabuses and approaches to learning. I am a compassionate, supportive and effective maths tutor.

How it works
Contact me to discuss your or your child's needs and goals. Then we will meet for our first session at my home on Kingsham Road in Chichester.
Between lessons, I'm available to communicate with both students and parents. I'll keep you updated on what we have been working on and areas they are finding challenging. I may set tailored self-study tasks to complete at home. These reinforce learning and make the most of our time together.
Fees
£50 per session (45 minutes).
Session Length
45 minutes of focused one-to-one maths is highly effective. We can cover a great deal in this time, and students often find it surprisingly intense! After more than 30 years of teaching, I have found this to be the ideal session length. Longer sessions can be arranged if desired.
Cancellations
If a lesson is cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, the full session fee will be charged, as it is usually not possible to fill the space at short notice.
My Teaching Style
I don't believe in simply memorising methods; my aim is to give students the tools and confidence to think independently, solve problems logically, and leave each session feeling empowered to say: "I can do this!"

I have also had tremendous success in helping adults on vocational courses, for example, working with trainee teachers to pass the Mathematics Professional Skills Test, assisting on Chartered Accountancy courses, and even an obscure, but pretty tough, maths test for a police helicopter navigation course applicant!
